The Reception and Year One children learn together. We are team Einstein’s and we cover both the EYFS and the National Curriculum.
Mrs Hunter (Class Teacher) and Miss Barker (Teaching Assistant) work as a team to deliver a magical learning journey for you.
On a Thursday we also have Miss Ashcroft (TA) who joins in with PE when Miss Barker is teaching.
Every morning we come into class and self-register.
We then find our handwriting books and practise out super letter formation.
At 9:10 we come together as a class to welcome everyone and check in.
After check in we have phonics followed by snack and then Mrs Hunter gives a literacy input based on our interests. Following that we all choose where we would like to do our independent learning. We have so many challenges in each area there is always lots to keep us learning. Every child has a task to do in Literacy. Sometimes we have a similar challenge but other days the Reception children may do something different to the Year One children.
Before lunch we learn about numbers. We all have an input and then go into groups to complete the challenges. We also have time to explore the provision too. We are always super busy!
During the afternoon we are busy with our independent learning. Mrs Hunter may give us special detective jobs to do so that we can apply our skills from the morning or we may learn new information linked to the topic or interests we are exploring.
At home time we enjoy singing or listening to a story.
Miss Barker teaches PE on a Thursday. We will also have an extra session of PE each week which may not always fall on the same day, so please make sure you have your PE kit in school at all times.
We all enjoy baking so we try to bake as much as possible throughout the year.
SWAP sessions: These events happen at different times during term so please look out for more information.
Homework and Challenges
Homework is sent home on a Friday and is due in on a Wednesday. Year One children also get spellings. These are sent home on a Friday and the children have a ‘quiz’ the following Friday
It is important that you spend some time every day reading with your grown up and practising your sounds and tricky words.
EYFS parents please continue to look at the online learning journeys as new observations are uploaded weekly.
As always, thank you for your continued support in your child’s journey through school.
