Next Week

Dear Parents/Carers,

Next Monday we are having our end of year celebration and graduation where each class will celebrate the year, we give out awards and we see our Year 6 children graduate.  This will be held at Drax church at 6pm (children to arrive from 5.30pm) and we will be having juice and cake afterwards.  Your child will have brought an invitation home so please join us.  Every child will be doing something so it is really important that they attend.  Please could they also wear school uniform.  I have no doubt it will be a great evening!

On Tuesday our Year 6 children have their treat day (a letter has been sent out so if you have any queries, please speak to Mrs Pinto).  After school we will also be having an end of year disco at the following times:

Reception/Year 1:  3.30 – 5pm  – please could children bring clothes to change into to

school in the morning.  We will make sure the children are

changed and parents can then collect at 5pm.

Year 2 – 6: 5.30pm – 7pm          – If your child is a Year 6, and you have previously given

written consent, they will be allowed to walk home after the

                                                    disco.

Please arrange to collect all other children at 7pm.

I am sure you appreciate that we take the children’s safety very seriously and collecting your children at this time of night will support us to do this.

There is an entry fee of £1 (paid on the night) and there will also be refreshments on sale.  If Reception and Year 1 children would like to bring some money, please could this be given to the class teacher.

On Wednesday, we will have our final assembly for Year 6 at 9.15am.  After the assembly, there will be time for Year 6 children to have their shirts signed if they would like and if you are happy for them to have them signed.

We we also be having a picnic lunch at 12 so please join us.  During lunch staff will be having a rounders rematch with the Year 6’s.  If parents would like to join in, teachers would really welcome your help!

After lunch, children can be picked up from their classes at 1pm for the summer holidays.  We return to school on Monday 4th September.

When we return we will be joined by Mr Redmond, who will be teaching Year 4/5 from September.  He will be coming in next week to see the children and we will arrange for parents to meet him in September.

Thank you to everyone who has expressed an interest in wrap around care at school.  This is definitely something we will be wanting to have up and running next year but I am sure you appreciate, there are many official requirements that need to be put in place before we can run this provision.  Hopefully we can sort this during the autumn term and will be sending out updates and finding out what sessions parents would like as and when we put the provision in place.  Until then, Fieldside nursery have very kindly said they would provide wrap around care for school.  More information about what they provide is attached in a letter so please contact them direct if you would like to book a place.

From September, we will only have someone in the office from 8.30 to 12.30 each day.  If you need to contact us, please ring and leave a message and we will regularly check the answerphone during the afternoon and get back to you.  If you need to come into school, please ring the bell and someone will come to you.

Finally, we say ‘goodbye’ to Mrs Ramsden, Mrs Perkins and Miss Allinson at the end of the term.  They have been very committed to the school and I wish them all the best for the future.  They have been great members of our team and will be missed very much.

I wish you all a very happy summer holidays and hope the sun shines all the time!

Many thanks,
