We are delighted to tell you that we have achieved the Bronze Healthy Schools Award!

The Healthy Schools Award is a recognition of how we contribute to the health and wellbeing of everyone in our school. There are 4 themes:

• Emotional Health and Wellbeing
• Active Lifestyles
• PSHE – Personal, Social and Health Education
• Food in Schools

By completing our first theme of Emotional Health and Wellbeing we have earned our Bronze Award.

We are now working hard to get the children active to achieve our Silver Award.  Watch this space!

Just a reminder that sports day is being held on Monday 17th June (weather permitting). Hopefully we will be blessed with good weather, so please make sure your child is provided with sun cream and plenty of water.

All children should come to school dressed in their PE kit but wearing a colour appropriate top for their team (slips have already gone home and a copy is on your child’s class window).

The day is being split into two sessions:

• In the morning Rec-Yr6 will take part in a range of events led by an adult.
• In the afternoon we will hold a traditional sports day where all children have the option to take part in a range of races.

Family members are invited for the afternoon races and we kindly ask you to bring your own chairs/blankets to sit on. The children will be sitting in their team colours. The afternoon session will begin at 1:00pm and entry to the school field will be from 12:45pm.  

To book a place on the camps please follow the instructions on the booking form,  booking forms & payments can be handed in to either of the Tigers stores or can be handed in on the day. Please email timrumford@castigers.com should you require further information .

For our ‘Music Around the World’ day, we were really privileged to have MEG students run all the sessions.  MEG is a Volunteering Project which is run by Students at the University of York.

The theme for the day was ‘Around the World’, focusing on South America with Samba and Latin American styles, Africa with African drumming and France and Spain with languages through song. Each class experienced 3 different workshops throughout the morning with some classes enjoying all 3 musical workshops and some classes being included in workshops related to the arts from the countries being explored.

It was a brilliant day and all children learned so many new skills.

To celebrate music in school, we then also had our music Christmas concert which was a great celebration of everything the children have learned in music.

Parent Forums – We are trialling a breakfast parent forum at 8.15 tomorrow.  School age children can go to our breakfast club and we will provide breakfast to parents during the parent forum.

We will also be holding a parent forum at 2.30 before our assembly at 3pm.  Coffee and cake will be served during the forum.  Hope you can attend one of the forums.

Autumn Afternoon – You are invited in to school tomorrow afternoon (from 1pm) to join us for autumn crafts.

School closes at 3.30 for autumn half term and opens on Monday 5th November.  Please don’t forget to book if you would like your child to have a bonfire themed lunch that day.
