Welcome to Foss Class

Year 3 and 4

Teachers in our class are:

· Miss Wynn – Class Teacher

· Mr. Guest – Maternity Cover Teacher

· Mrs Ruddle – Assistant Teacher (who works with us and Team Humber)

We have lots of great things planned each week. We are really excited about the year ahead – please follow our learning adventures on the school’s Twitter account (@CamblesSchool).

· PE is on a Monday with Mr Jeff. Please could you make sure your child comes to School in their PE kit ready for their sessions.

Reading

Children take part in guided reading daily as whole class session. Due to these being recorded in their Guided Reading books, they are not written in their Reading Records.

Individual reading books can be changed by your child daily. If your child keeps forgetting to change their book, please let us know. Reading is part of your child’s homework and they have a challenge to read at least five times a week to gain extra playtime on a Friday. Please could you listen to your child read so that you can ask him/her questions and help them improve their understanding and fluency. We would be grateful if you could then write a note in their planner to say they have read to you.

Homework

· We send home weekly spelling for the children on a Monday to be tested the following Monday.

· Reading 5 times a week to an adult. We would be grateful if you could record this in their reading records. If the children manage 5 reads a week they will be able to have extra playtime on a Friday.

· Practice their times tables. The children have apps such as Number gym and Timetables Rock stars to use to help practice and build up their confidence. After Easter, the children will go back to focusing on one times table a week and will be tested every Monday. The children will have their timetables recorded down in their reading record.

If you have any queries about anything that is happening in class, a member of staff is always on the door in the morning. Hopefully we will be able to help you then or arrange a time when we can discuss any issues with you that will need longer time.
