Music Around the World

We have had some amazing opportunities for music this term in school, including our ‘Music Around the World’ learning through music day, our Christmas Concert and opportunities for children to learn an instrument.

For our ‘Music Around the World’ day, we were really privileged to have MEG students run all the sessions.  MEG is a Volunteering Project which is run by Students at the University of York.

The theme for the day was ‘Around the World’, focusing on South America with Samba and Latin American styles, Africa with African drumming and France and Spain with languages through song. Each class experienced 3 different workshops throughout the morning with some classes enjoying all 3 musical workshops and some classes being included in workshops related to the arts from the countries being explored.

It was a brilliant day and all children learned so many new skills.

To celebrate music in school, we then also had our music Christmas concert which was a great celebration of everything the children have learned in music.
