Nidd Class What’s Happening This Week Commencing 22nd October 2018

This week we have:

Halloween Disco on Wednesday 3:30-4:30pm.  

School photos on Tuesday.  

NSPCC workshops for the children on Tuesday with a parent workshop 2:30-3:30 about online safety.

Friday: Halloween lunch.  Autumn afternoon with parents 2:00-3:00pm

Literacy

We have been writing our own fact sheet about a Guinea Pig last week as we are hoping to get a class pet.  This week we will be writing a persuasive letter to Mrs Fletcher to see if we can get a pet. We will also be discussing ways to raise money to look after our pet as part of our enterprise project.

Numeracy

In maths we have been learning about addition and subtraction and we will be looking at fact families as well as extending out numbes to 20.   We are also continuing to practise counting in 2’s and beginning to count in 10’s.

In Reception we are learning all about the numbers 9 and 10  We will be looking at where it is on the numberline and how we can make 9 and 10 in different ways..

Phonics

Our phonic sounds this week which we are focusing on using in our writing are…

Year 1:. Ure, air and er  We wll be learning to read the words: where, there and here.

Reception: We are looking at initial sounds in words.  We are focusing on learning the letters e, u, r, h and b.. We will also be learning how to read Fred’s red word into

Spellings this week (Year 1)

Do, my, you, your, was, pure, sure, hair, chair, funfair

We will be reading every day in school.  Books will now be changed on a Monday. Don’t forget to do your Tic Tac Toe Year 1’s.
