Welcome Back

Dear Parents/Carers,

Happy New Year to you all!  I hope you had a lovely Christmas break.

Welcome back to another busy but exciting term.  The children have had a great start to our new term; coming back with enthusiasm and some brilliant ideas to improve our school.  We have discussed what extra opportunities children would like in school and what extra responsibilities they would like.  One idea was to have a healthy tuck shop that the children run, from costing to ordering, advertising and delivering.  They will have to apply for  the job so if they do bring a job application home, please help them to complete it.

We also have some very exciting news:  we will be taking part in and engineering project with Drax, designing and making an electric car (large enough to sit in) over the next few months.  Children from Upper Key Stage 2 will work on the project then race the car against other schools in April.  We will keep you updated on progress but it is very exciting.

Last week lots of Key Stage 2 children attended ‘Young Voices’ which they had been preparing for with Miss Lord all last term.  They had a great afternoon and evening and sang with over 4,000 children so it was quite an event.

Dates for events this term will be published on the website this week with lots planned so please keep looking at the website for updates on what is happening.  Clubs start next week so please sign up on parent pay.

Two events coming up soon are:  We have an open morning on Thursday 24th January; please come and join us if you can to see what the children are learning in school and bring a favourite book to share.  We also have a ‘Maths Around the World’ evening on Tuesday 29th January at 6pm so hope you can join us for that too.

Our Creative Curriculum starts with a focus on polar regions,  who could children survive there and why are these regions important and children are very excited to find lots of facts already.

I am really looking forward to catching up with you all this term.  Please come and see me if you have any concerns or questions or would like to come in and see your child learn at a time other than our open mornings or events. You are very welcome to come in to school to see the children’s learning at any time.

Many thanks for all your support.

Mrs Fletcher
